1^st Annual ~Best Decorated Cake Contest

This contest is all about cake decoration. We’re asking you to decorate a cake to represent what the Highland Markt und Mehr means to you.  All entries must meet the contest requirements.

REQUIREMENTS:

·         Must register at Markt office no later than September 9th – will require name, phone number &/or email along with theme of your cake.

·         Must be a cake. Cupcakes, cheesecakes and coffee cakes (nor pancakes or crab-cakes) are not eligible.

• Starting with a 12-inch cake as your base, create a visual representation of the farmer’s market.  Your cake can be homemade or store-bought, but you MUST start with a completely undecorated cake. It can also be a single layer cake or a multi-layer cake, that’s up to you!
• The entire completed/assembled cake must not exceed 36 inches in height.
• Set up will begin at 6:00 p.m., Thursday, September 16 and must be completed for judging by 7:30 p.m.  You will bring your cake, finish decorating and assemble at the market.
• You can only enter once.
• The entries will be judged in the following categories: originality; execution; and best representation of Highland Markt und Mehr.
• The contest is open to everyone.
• You can use any medium to decorate your cake (i.e., buttercream, fondant, sugarcraft), however, it must all be edible (no non-edible decorations) and it must all be made by YOU!!! For example, if you want an ear of corn to decorate your cake you have to make it yourself.
• Remember that this contest is about cake decorating and showing off your imagination. Don’t worry so much about the actual cake flavor as that will not impact the judging in any way.
